Not only did I read the article, but I read the other linked one about dating while blind, so to speak. Yeah, as a teenager I wanted a pretty girlfriend, even though I had no real concept. I just had a vague understanding that it was important. Luckily I eventually grew up and realized there were more important things than having hot girlfriends with driver's licenses and full eyesight. Luckily I'm now married to a person who's just as blind as I am. She may not be the best-looking but I'd proudly take her anywhere because she's such a kind and sweet and intelligent person. Plus, at my age, I'm just too damn ornary to be bothered about what other people think.

I'll believe articles like these when there isn't a disabled person around that has a significant other, or at least, the prospect of having one. I could go on a rant about how people take shallow-minded views, a couple stats, package them up into an article, and make it seem like a well thought out study, full of clear evidence you couldn't ever debate. But, I'd never shut up.

This is a show about people who feel, or used to feel, sorry for themselves. That is what makes a person undatable. The less confidence a person has, the less attractive they are.

Wow blunt aren't we? But yes, it is all about self-immage. Yes, there are people who want nothing to do with the blind or the otherwised disabled but that is just ignorance.
